Hvad lavede man i 80'erne?

Whos line.

- hvad lavede man i 80'erne, når man ikke have YouTube? Konkurrende om hvem der havde den fedeste lommeregner?

Leisure!

In writing moment Maki is having a blast in Parken, Copenhagen, Denmark. He is attending a concert with DJ Tiësto with Jenner, Bjarke, Nicolaj and Martin. I bet they are having quite some party - they have been looking forward to this moment the last few months.

I am having a weekend a home doing nothing but googling, surfing at Youtube and writing this blog.

Morf, the cat in the sack with the big ego, is taking time of from the mice hunting as well.

Summer ...

During summer we had people cleaning and painting the roof, and Maki started the a project in the garden.

We had a beautiful garden filled with birch woods, roses, fruit trees and bushed. The couple who lived here before us spent a lot of time in the garden, but in an attempt of being realistic we eliminated most of the roses, bushed and some of the trees as we realized that we wouldn't have time to maintain them. Instead we plan to get a very simple garden, still with a few trees and a new terrace on the northern side of the house.

Looking good!

In June I went to Stockholm, Sweden, with Kvadrats staff social club. Meanwhile Maki had a visit of Carsten, the carpenter, his brother and father, and while I was drinking long drinks and eating prawn sandwiched they putted in new windows in the whole upper floor. I have never seen such a huge transformation to a house is such short time. The house looked at least 20 years younger over the weekend.

Mallorca

In April we went to Mallorca, Spain, with most of Makis family.

Ella invited us all to come and the occation was her 80th birthday. Gorm, Lotte, Sisse, Mikkel, Thomas, Anita, Amy, Lise, Henrik, Maki and I got on a plain and flew to Mallorca, rented a few cards and drowe to Port Alcudia on the northern part of the island. We could have wished for better weather, but it gave us an excuse to drive to the remote attractions.

... and then it all began!

In March we began to renovation project. We decided to begin with the 3 rooms on the upper floor. We started with putting in new light wooden ceilings, wooden floors and plastering the walls. Heidi and Steffen and my nephews came from Ålborg to give a hand.
Afterward we attacked the hallway and removed a few wall - that a MESS!!! I have never seen that much dust in one place - and why our home? For some reason they thought that it was a good idea to split the hallway into 3 very small rooms when they builded the house. We decided that one bright and bigger hallway was to prefer, so we removed the walls, plastered it and painted it white.

Vacation

One week after we took over the house we went to Italy on skiing holiday. We spent a week in beautiful Canazei with our friends Rikke, Carsten, Henrik, Sine, Kim and Sines parents. We been to Canazei a few times before and the area is so great that we keep coming back. We don't really do anything but eat, drink beers and ski, but then again that is the purpose of that kind of holiday.
After a week in the snow we came "home". It felt odd locking us selves in to a big, new house in the middle of the night and go to sleep.

New house - new projects

January 1st Maki and I bought a house together just a few kilometers outside of Randers, Denmark. A very big step for both of us, but it felt good.
We signed the papers in November 2006 and took ownership January 1st 2007. The house was build in 1974 and unfortunately no one felt like doing any renovations for 30-some years. In the 70ies the house was very modern and luxurious - it is 212 m2 and had a swimming pool and sauna in the basement and greenhouse and fruit trees in the garden. A few years after it was build it was sold to a farmers couple and their 3 kids. They lived here - not the kids - until we took over. Both of them was getting very old and didn't feel that they could manage this big house.
The project is quite a mouthful - everything has to be painted, renovated or replaced, so do not expect miracles! As we both are working more than full time we only have weekends to spend on the house. We have an allied in our friend, Carsten, a carpenter, and he is our motivating force. He spends nearly every free weekend he has in Spentrup and we appreciate that very very much.
